Bowerbirds preformed at the Bowery Ballroom on March 23, 2012. I’ve been a fan of Bowerbirds for a while now, I mean with such great albums like Hymns for a Dark Horse and Upper Air, who wouldn’t be a fan of this folk group from North Carolina? When I heard that they were going to release a new album, I was completely ecstatic. The Clearing was set to be released on March 5th and of course I couldn’t wait and got my hands on it in February. The Clearing blew me away and I knew that I had to make the 3 and a half hour long trip back home to see them live.

+Atlas Sound at Binghamton University 2/4/2012
Atlas Sound, Bradford Cox’s solo project preformed at Binghamton University on February 4, 2012. When I first heard that Atlas Sound was going to come and play a show at my school, I was totally bewildered as to why and how my school got Bradford Cox to come to a university in the middle of nowhere. I wasn’t complaining though, I was ecstatic that I’d have the chance to see Atlas Sound again at a more intimate venue. My expectations of Brad’s performance were through the roof ever since I’d last seen him in December at Bowery Ballroom, but I did not expect half of the things that happened throughout the course of the night.

I’ve decided to start a concert reviewing blog because I go to a ton of shows, take pictures and videos, so why not write about it too? I’m looking to do something with journalism career-wise, so I’m hoping running this blog will look ‘good’ on my resume. Anyway, I’m going to publish my first review after the next show I go to which is Atlas Sound on February 4th!
